Description (eng)
The present work thematises post-war welfare education from the perspective of contemporary witness Erika Held. As a Sinto, her father only just survived National Socialism. Her mother was targeted by the state authorities because of her illegitimate children and her Yenish origins. Erika Held and her siblings were taken away from their parents and placed in a foreign home. The consequences of these experiences manifested themselves in her cultural uprooting and social alienation from her family. Violence, discrimination and religious drill were the order of the day in the children's home. The search for her origins accompanied Erika Held her entire life. The life story of Erika Held is presented on the basis of her autobiography and an interview. The themes of loss, trauma, memory and marginalisation are traced.
