Description (eng)
The research field of this bachelor thesis is the work of child and youth welfare services and
the associated discrimination of unmarried women and their 'illegitimate' children. From an
intersectional analysis perspective, a case study was carried out using the method of open
coding and based on sociological discourse analysis using written documentation from the
youth welfare offices of St. Pölten and Vienna from the years 1950-1970. The focus is on a
family form that is portrayed as deviant by the welfare authorities. In particular, the
legitimisation reasons for the removal of children, heteronormative gender attributions and
forms of discrimination are at the centre of the historical research.
