The aim of the present work is to give an insight into the everyday routine of social work dealing with women addicted to online-shopping. The following research question was asked: How can pathological online buying behavior of women and subsequently social work interventions be described? As part of qualitative research, data was collected assessed using system analysis, using guided interviews with social workers and blog posts from affected women. The results describe the causes, characteristics and consequences of pathological online buying behavior. Furthermore, the collected social work approaches are outlined, showing potential for expansion with regard to social work interventions on digital shopping addiction.
