In this paper, we describe a proof-of-concept for the implementation of a wearable auditory biofeedback system based on a sensor-instrumented insole. Such a system aims to assist everyday users with static and dynamic exercises for gait rehabilitation interventions by providing auditory feedback based on plantar pressure distribution and automated classification of functional gait disorders. As ground reaction force (GRF) data are frequently used in clinical practice to quantitatively describe h... read more
In this publication, we used wearable technologies and machine learning to personalize sonification feedback for improved joint alignment during exercises. In the study, sonification feedback significantly modified participants joint alignment during squats, lunges, and one-legged stands. The study reveals auditory feedback's potential in movement adjustment for personalized rehabilitation and injury prevention.read more
The "SoniGait Description Video" provides an overview of our innovative approach to enhancing movement quality through real-time biofeedback. It highlights the use of sonification, pressure-sensitive insoles, and machine learning to classify movement patterns and deliver intuitive acoustic guidance for patients during rehabilitation.read more
