Virtual Reality and 360 Degree Videos are relatively young, most rules still have to be written for them, respectively existing rules have to be rewritten. With the traditional two-dimensional media, like movies and television, you had the audiences attention on a confined rectangular surface. With Immersive Videos the audience is delving into a completely new world, where they first have to orient themselves. The possibilities for filmmakers to guide their attention and tell a story is impeded by the 360 degrees of free viewing direction. This raises the question, with which new means the audience can be guided and if it is even necessary to intervene in the experience. This question is answered with the aid of two tests, of a subject group, several interviews of experts and an extensive literature review. This thesis furthermore looks at the behavior of audiences in 360 Degree Media and tries to create a guide for guiding the viewers attention, through analysis of methods used up to this point and research of new possibilities to guide the audience’s attention.
