Title (eng): Accuracy of Smartwatches and Fitness Bands regarding their Fitness Functions
Wais, O. (Olivia)
Blumenstein, K. (Kerstin)
Hardly any studies exist about the accuracy of smartwatches and fitness bands. We conducted ten experiments with eight wearables to gain insights about the reliability of the tracked data. The findings show that the Fitbit Charge HR, the Apple Watch, the Runtastic Orbit, the Wahoo Stride Sensor, the Moto 360, and the Samsung Gear Fit are considered accurate regarding most of their functions. The wearables, which gave the least accurate results, are the Sony Smartwatch 3 and the LG G watch.
Regarding these two watches, steps were not recorded precisely and the distance is only recorded when a mobile device with GPS is near.
