Das Ziel der Bachelorarbeit ist es, Bildinhalte mit Bezug zur COVID-19-Pandemie in sozialen Medien auf deren Gestaltungselemente zu untersuchen. Die Analyse erfolgt auf Basis von grafischer Hervorhebung jener Stellen des Bildmaterials, welche Erkenntnisse über Muster und mögliche bewusste Fehl- oder Desinformation liefern oder diese als solche identifizierbar machen. Zudem wird untersucht, in welcher Form Bildmaterial historischer rechtsextremistischer Ereignisse für eine Zuspitzung der Aussage des jeweiligen Bildinhalts verwendet werden. Es wird untersucht welche Vorhaben zur Förderung der Medienkompetenz und der kritischen Auseinandersetzung mit den sich rasant entwickelnden neuen Medien notwendig sind. Zentraler Bestandteil dabei ist Ausbildungs- und Schulungskonzepte für die Profession zu stärken, um extremistischen Tendenzen früher entgegenwirken zu können.

The goal of this thesis was to examine graphical social media content related to the COVID-19 pandemic in the context of extremism and derive fields of action for current and future social work. The analysis was carried out by graphicly highlighting specific parts of the image material in order to provide information about patterns and to identify possible deliberate misinformation or disinformation. Furthermore, it was examined how images of historical, right-wing extremist events are used to exaggerate the message of the respective subject. From a social science perspective, the findings of this work are that preventive work to support media skills and critical thinking of clients are indispensable due to the rapid development of new media. Professionals should be educated and trained on the subject to prevent extremism at an early stage.
