Diese Arbeit hat die Bildersprache namens Isotype von Otto Neurath zum Thema. Mit dieser Diplomarbeit soll die Fragestelltung: Werden Isotype Infografiken besser verstanden als Business Charts? beantwortet werden. Durch eine Umfrage wurde diese Fragestellung gelöst und ein Ergebnis wurde gefunden. Die wesentlichen Erkenntnisse die durch diese Arbeit herausgefunden wurden sind dass die Isotype Grafik visuell sehr gut bei den Probanden ankam und auch gut verstanden wurde. Die Business Charts wurden ebenfalls sehr gut verstanden kam visuell jedoch nicht so gut an wie die Isotype Grafiken. Neben der Beantwortung der Fragestellung behandelt die Arbeit Themen wie Enstehung der Isotype, Informationsdesign, Grundlagen der Bildkommunikation und Regeln zur Estellung von Infografiken.

This paper treats the topic of the language of images called isotype from Otto Neurath. In addition the question: Do the people understand the isotype better than business charts? should be answered. Through a survey this question has been answered and a result has been found. The main findings of this work are that the isotype graphics are visually the best solution for the subjects and they also understood the isotyoe graphics very well. The business charts were also very well understood but at the visual field the subjects like the isotype graphics more than the business charts. Besides the answering oft he question there are themes like the birth of the isotype, informationdesign, the bases of the communication of pictures and rules fort he creation of infographics in this paper.
