Description (en)
In this user study we compare four different visualization techniques of times series in a spatial context using small multiples.
Braided Collapsed Horizon Graphs divide the line plot in non-overlapping horizontal and vertical squares. From a 2D color map each square is assigned a unique color. The squares are then layered on top of each other. Applying the idea of Braided Graphs for each intersection point of the line graphs, the areas below the line graphs are split at this location and ordered low-to-high.
This screenshot explains the construction of Braided Collapsed Horizon Graph.
