Colormanagement ist eine sehr junge Technologie. Diese Arbeit soll dem Leser einen groben und möglichst verständlichen Überblick über diese doch sehr komplexe Materie vermitteln. Im ersten Kapitel werden die theoretischen und physikalischen Grundlagen der Farbentstehung- und Wahrnehmung etwas genauer erörtert. Diese Ausführungen bilden die Grundlage zum Verständnis der weiteren Kapitel. Das zweite Kapitel behandelt den Aufbau und die Entwicklung von Farbordnungssystemen und Farbräumen. Im dritten Kapitel werden Aufbau, Ablauf und Arbeitsweise in einem Colormanagementsystem beschrieben. Das vierte und letzte Kapitel befasst sich mit der zentralen und wichtigen Thematik der Profilerstellung. Es wird die Entwicklung des ICC-Standards beschrieben, und des weiteren wird der Aufbau eines ICC-Profils dargestellt und erklärt. Die weiteren Unterkapitel beschreiben die Profilerstellung für die einzelnen Ein- und Ausgabegeräte. In systematischer Weise wird die Charakterisierung und die Kalibrierung der Geräte erklärt. Das vorletzte Unterkapitel geht noch etwas tiefer auf die Problematik der Bedruckstoffe ein. Abschließend werden noch in einem kurzen Überblick die Möglichkeiten für Colormanagement im Internet beschrieben.

Colormanagement is a very young technologie. This thesis should give a rough overview to this very komplex subject in an understandable way. The first chapter describes the theoretical and physical basics of color fidelity and the perception of color. This is important to understand the further chapters. The second chapter describes the construction and the developement of color spaces. The third chapter shows the construction, the flow and the mode of operation in a colormanagementsystem. The fourth and last chapter deals with profiling of the several devices. The developement of the ICC-Standard and the construction of an ICC-Profile is discribed. The further subsections describe characterizing and calibrating the several devices in a systematical way. The next subsection deals with the influence of the paper to the reproduction of colors. And final it shows the several practicabilities for colormanagement in the world wide web.
